I confirm what mol says but I also want to make obvious that 2.1mb+ are certainly not what you really want for the web size version of the photo.

Thanks for the reply. The point of my gallery is to both store and display my photos in their original resolution. As I now live abroad this is very important for my family to have access to photos to print out themselves.

Hi zzwill,

You say each photo is 2mb+. Does it mean the "web size" photo is 2.1mb+ ? I suppose the answer is "yes" and this is not a good thing. 2.1mb+ is a good weight for the high definition version of the photo, but not for the web size.

Thumbnails are generated from the web size which are most of the time between 500 and 1000 pixels wide (that makes photos weight much less than 2.1mb+) and creating thumbnails from smaller files is much faster.

So the first step is to provide acceptable web size photos.

I have seen few posts that touch on this subject, but none really give me a satisfactory answer...
I have all my families photographs stored in a folder, over 3000, which I want to make accessible to family members with Piwigo. At the moment I have added the folder, and have used tools/thumbnails to create thumbnails for each picture.

The problem is; If I click 'create all' or even 'create 20' then the page times-out after 60 seconds after having made 10-15 thumbnails. This leaves me having to add photos 10 at a time!!

Any Ideas ?? as re-uploading is not an option as the pictures are 2mb+
