not sure (I personnally never used groups)
if you go to the groups management page and click on "Referse default group property" (so set the group as default) your users will be added to this groups automatically

Piwigo 2.4
I'm new to piwigo and struggling how to make an album visible to registered users immediately upon registration.
I understand that I can create a group "users" and give the group permission to view a private album. The problem is that administrator action is required to add any and all newly registered users to the group "users" .
Is there a way around this problem so that every newly registered user can view the album immediately after the registration but not before the registration.
