How to update existing picture?

Hi all, I tried to find any topic relating to this with search with no success.

Is it somehow possible to update a picture in the gallery? i.e. I have a picture which I would want to change to a bigger version / with different copyrights without loosing the statistics or the image link.

Is this possible with some extension or is there a some workaround?

Best regards,
Miu

Re: How to update existing picture?

You mean the random generated name on server?
What happens to the thumbnails when doing this? They stay as the original?

? the name of the picture is exactly the same when you upload the picture by ftp !

The thumbnail need to be deleted and re-created in order to correspond to the new pict.

Re: How to update existing picture?

If you use pLoader, the name is the MD5 of the file.
So you can't update the picture by a FTP upload.

My pictures with Piwigo, of course !

Re: How to update existing picture?

You can but it will be a bite longer.
- on the picture page, determinate the name of the pict by right click -> 'display the picture'.
- then rename your new pict with the name of old pict
- go to the category of your old pict by ftp and replace the pict
- go to the thumbnail folder of the category and delete the old thumbnail
- recreate thumbnail and synro

Grum why it's the md5 ?

Re: How to update existing picture?

yes, it's possible... but not recommanded, I think.

On the french forum, you can read this topic : http://fr.piwigo.org/forum/viewtopic.ph … 13#p117413
It will give you some explanation about the use of MD5 filename by pLoader.

thx
but it would be better to make this feature as an option (one more raison for me to don't use ploader)
