You're right, deleting a user uploaded photo means 1) FTP connection and file deletion 2) synchronization. Not really easy obviously.

For photos added with pLoader/Digikam (or any remote application using Piwigo web API to upload photos) or with the admin web upload, you can delete them directly from Piwigo administration panel.

When the admin web upload form will be available for users, then user uploaded photos will be easy to remove (and why not by the uploader himself).

Can you create a feature request in the bugtracker? "ability for a user to delete his own uploaded photos" (this way it won't be forgotten when preparing Piwigo 2.2)
