[Theme] stripped (last version: 2.3.1)

Hello everyone.

Here is my first theme for Piwigo:
[extension by Zaphod] stripped

The goal was to create a simple and clean theme, and his inspired on the themes simple black (from which I started), Luciano Amodio, et the Gally themes.

There is a configuration page, with some options available.
(for example, the autosize image to window script, based on the autosize plugin, can be disabled here, as well as the menu & tab animations)

One example of this theme is available here:
http://www.audreyetjulien.fr/galerie/

If you have any comments or bug reports, feel free to use this topic.

Re: [Theme] stripped (last version: 2.3.1)

This is a very good theme Zaphod. Very focused on photos.

I like:
* the overall design

* the fixed width

* the fact that thumbnails are not reorganized when you show/hide the menu

* the fact that when you're not on the last page of an album, the last line of thumbnails is always full

* the big arrows to go on previous/next page of an album (inspired from Luciano)

* the fact that albums (categories) are displayed as thumbnails, even if it would be good to make it more obvious they are albums, not photos

* the links in the footer, I did something very similar on piwigo.com, see the footer in the demo and I think I will add this feature in standard Piwigo as well

* the configuration settings:  ability to decide to display the photo title in the browsing path and the description below the photo

I'm not 100% fan of:

* the lighter background color behind photo description, I won't have set any specific background

* on the photo, the area which triggers the display of the previous/next thumbnail is too short

* I wonder if the navigation icons (first/previous/up/next/last) would not have been better placed just before "12/43" (current photo / total number of photos) at the end of the line outside the central box.

Very good job Zaphod. Would you like to add your theme in the Subversion repository?

Yes, this is something I have to think about.
I'm not entirely satisfied with this.
(the main difference is the fact the albums have a name... not the photos... I'm not entirely satisfied with this).

When there is only the title (with no background), I find that something is missing...
Anyway that's something very easy to modify with CSS.
(or better... with an option on the configuration page... i'll add it on my "todo list").

I'm not entirely satisfied with this either.
In fact, I'm not a big fan of displaying the thumbnails on the image... I'm not sure I'll keep it on my gallery.
On the theme, I'll keep it, but maybe not this way.
(I already had to disable the thumbs for several plugins)

The position of the "12/43" and navigation icons was a difficult thing to decide.
If everything is outside the box... that's a lot on the line if you are in admin mode.

I don't understand the question ;)

Re: [Theme] stripped (last version: 2.3.1)

I didn't find a way to display exif without displaying the exif button.
I have a solution for this so it will be possible in the next version.

Anyway, you can display exif by using Advanced MetaData plugin.

There's a new version 1.0.1 with the exif metadata tab (and several other minor changes).

I see today on your test gallery that you moved the navigation icons the way I was recommending.

I think it is very good. Do you like it?

Re: [Theme] stripped (last version: 2.3.1)

I wasn't fond of the idea but I tested it and liked it...
I tried it today when testing the icon stripe.
This is a little more consistent with the theme, and the height is a little bit more optimized.

I'm not totally convinced with the mix of text icons / real icons, but I was not totally conviced with the icon bar alone on its line, like before.

I just need to find a way of making this works with ie6/7.

Re: [Theme] stripped (last version: 2.3.1)

I made a little customization (CSS only) to get an even more simplified style. I like it very much!

What doesn't work? the use of CSS sprites or the this position for navigation icons?

Re: [Theme] stripped (last version: 2.3.1)

The navigation icons at the top.
I think it's ok now... there was a problem with the "inline-block" property.

Re: [Theme] stripped (last version: 2.3.1)

Hello Zaphod,

I downloaded the theme. Installed it and works great! Thank you for sharing this with the community.

I have two questions on the demo theme here: http://www.audreyetjulien.fr/galerie/

How would I get it to by default have the menu pop out when someone visits my gallery?

Also how would I get it to have a banner at the top like in the demo?

Thank you,

Johnny

Re: [Theme] stripped (last version: 2.3.1)

I'd also like to know how to have the menu show be default.

I'm in the process of making a tutorial on how to use the gallery with the additional pages plugin and the FCK editor (if it's taking ME this long to discover all the cool things it does, I'm sure my users could use a few hints) and I'd like it to be available when they first visit the site.

Re: [Theme] stripped (last version: 2.3.1)

To show the menu by default, you have to add via Local Files Editor a CSS rule
(tab CSS, create a "local / css / stripped-rules.css)

And put these lines :

Code:

.js #menubar {
  display: block;
}

This will stay even if the theme is updated.

For the banner, I have put this is "Configuration / Options / Banner" field:

Code:

<div id="banner">&nbsp;</div>

And then with Local Files Editor, CSS tab, "local / css / rules.css"

Code:

#banner {
  max-width:1120px;
  height:93px;
  margin-top:10px;
  text-align:center;
  background: transparent url(http://www.audreyetjulien.fr/galerie/local/banner.png)
}

The banner image is just a simple png where I rounded the corners with Gimp.
