Moving comments between two different installations ?

Hi,

Nothing like setting myself a challenge ...

I have a photogallery on two different domains and would like to combine comments left onto a single domain (as I am about to remove one of the the galleries). One of these domains is literally a "live backup" for the other site.

Is it possible to combine comments in this fashion and if so, what file contains the comments which have been left.

Many thanks for reading,

Steve

Re: Moving comments between two different installations ?

Hi,

That would require some script that imports comments from one database into the other. I think it is quite some work, and doubt if it is worth the effort if you want to remove one of the install within near future...

Well, you can cook up some php+sql that does the job for you. Then put a cronjob (you are on Linux? If not, you should right now!) to run that php file each 30 minutes...

Or even more "real time" : you create a plugin on gallery1 which calls pwg.images.addComment on gallery2 each time a comment is added. (good luck ;-)

I like that idea very much - something to think ... and learn about  ;)

Thank you so much everyone for your ideas, suggestions and solutions.
