Private galleries, unlike private images, do not automatically grant view permissions to admins?

Though a particular named admin can be selected for viewing, I can’t find a way to grant all (current and future) admins permission to view – which is really what I’d want to be the default viewing behaviour.

What am I missing?

If it's not just me, could ‘Admins’ appear as a group alongside other groups created on the site? perhaps selected by default?
