I really would like to have the menu visible on all pages, including the picture page. Since I don't understand HTML/PHP much, I can't figure out how to do that.

Also would like to see the EXIF info in a block in the menu if there is any, instead of under the picture. Is that at all possible?

Administration -> Configuration -> Options -> Display

I was looking for something as sidebar. Thought the menubar was a banner or something.

there are themes with the menu displayed as vertical , and even some of mines which have a part of the menu horizontal ( OS_*)

Using one of your themes at the moment flop_mauve I think it is called. :)
