Hi..
I'm very happy with my piwigo install. I have it just how I want it... however I'd like to move to a faster server. I assume the following
Export then import my SQL database to the new machine
Copy my piwigo install onto the new machine
As long as DB and piwigo passwords all stay the same I should be OK...?
I'm guessing its not that straight forward:-)
Any comments or guidance welcome

Hello
As far as I remember, yes that's all^_^ If you have trouble with pwd check local /config /database.inc.php

Hi flop25
Thanks very much....
Big week this week then as I'll give it a try. I'll do another backup and keep my current install in case it all goes wrong. Fingers crossed.
Thanks again

Hi
Well I did the deed but it only half worked...
My Piwigo looks identical to the old server, users, theme etc The new install has picked up mySQL no problem users can log in etc. But when I transfer the uploads folder over with the pictures they do not appear. What am I missing?

What do you means by "don't appear"? They are not registered or the picture are not generated?
If they are not registered check the piwigo__images table. If they are not generated post a link

Sorry. What I mean is that when I go to my piwigo instance eveything is as it shoud be the look all the links work like the old one but the pictures are missing.
Try conistonmedia.webhop.net/piwigo
I copied the upload folder form the old server via a usb stick to the new install
Many thanks

as you can see : http://conistonmedia.webhop.net/piwigo/ … e53-th.jpg
source not found => your transfer were wrong. OR the permission of folders/files are badly mapped : 755 for upload

Me again... Hi
Here is what I did..
Exported then imported my db
copied the whole of the piwigo directory from my old system into the www folder of my new server
When I tried to access I go a permissions error.
So I deleted the piwigo directory on the new machine and did a net install (fresh) and the result is what you see now.
Im a little lost on the permissions.. I was hoping that just copying the old folder over would have worked but no... :(

don't know how you transfer, but you might set your software right
Folders 755, files 644. for all piwigo (for auto update mainly)

Many thanks
Yes I have just done the folders 1 at a time but my lack of knowledge stops me form bulk setting the permissions of the files.
I will look it up but as it is now the site works
Many thanks again

Hi all.
I have just moved my piwigo instance to another machine. Same db same piwigo...
It works thanks to to flop25 for his help with that however two things remain unsolved and I have looked everywhere I promise.... The rest of the site works....
1. Not able to upload new pictures. From my phone (using the piwigo app) or through the browser.
Upload folder is set to 777
2. Any updates such as plugins etc. I get an error when I try to update.
All the folders in my piwigo are set to 755
Is there something I have missed here?
Many thanks again

havent tried moving piwigo.
if not mistaken when do backup from old server save files in GZiped Tar Archive format, and all file and folder permissions will remain intact. in the archive
if you have cpanel on server you can compress with the file manager,
select compress and select GZiped
upload archive to new server and use cpanel file manager to extract files too, then it should be exact as before.
