I would like to know if it is possible to create a box, like the categories box at the left, which will show the news of the gallery.
I am a newbie so I don't know very well the PHP syntax
Is it possible?

You need a CMS system to be able to do this. A forum can handle it properly, but phpWG can not :)
You could however create a box showing news coming from you CMS system while navigating in your gallery.
