installation failed: cannot redeclare transliterate()

Hi there,

just attempted the installation of piwigo on my hosting (it's shared server) in order to test it as a replacement for my current gallery solution. I've used the freshly donwloaded network installer. The download apparently proceeds without any problems, the directory structure is also there, but the installation fails almost immediately with the following error message:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare transliterate() in /mnt/<dir>/<user>/public_html/piwigo/include/functions.inc.php on line 352

I've seen reference to this in a Polish post from 2014, without any solution.

Is there something misconfigured in my php installation?

I'd be very grateful for any hints. Thanks in advance,
Lubos

Piwigo version: latest (network installer)
PHP version: 5.3
MySQL version: not relevant (yet)
Piwigo URL: not relevant (yet)

Re: installation failed: cannot redeclare transliterate()

thanks for your reply - i just tried overwriting the installation from the downloaded FTP - to no avail.

i've now contacted the hosting helpdesk to find out whether there is anything special about the php installation, webserver or anything else...

shouldn't be - wordpress, tinytiny-rss and menalto gallery3 have always worked without any special procedures...

any other ideas? i will report back any possible findings...

Re: installation failed: cannot redeclare transliterate()

good evening.

more info regarding the environment:

- shared hosting
- piwigo "installed" under a separate subdomain (piwigo.mydomain.net)
- PHP version 5.3.15-pl0-gentoo
- server API Apache 2.0 Handler
- Suhosin Patch 0.9.10
- Thread Safety disabled
- Zend Memory Manager enabled

would there be any particular part of the phpinfo output that would be of interest?

regards,
l.
