Hello/Hi/Greetings,

Okay. I am trying to make an album visible to a specific user, and I cannot seem to figure out how to do that. I am trying to get the user named 'user1' to view the album named 'album1'

Here are the album named "album1" permissions:
Access type: private
Groups: pics
Users: user1

Here are the user1 settings:
status: user
privacy level: friends
groups: pics

Here are the group settings for pics:
members: pics
authorised: album1

Piwigo version: 2.8.5
Operating system: Linux
PHP: 5.5.9-1ubuntu4.20 (Show info) [2016-12-30 20:51:32]
MySQL: 5.5.53-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 [2016-12-30 20:51:32]
Graphics Library: External ImageMagick 6.7.7-10

use the plugin Take A tour and you will probably discover the difference between privacy level per pictures and the permissions per albums: they are independent so here it's very likely that your user see the album but each picture in it has a privacy level too high
and you probably meant:
