Piwigo 2.9.0RC1

Hello beta-testers and... "release candidate" testers as well!

Here comes the first release candidate for Piwigo 2.9. As usual with "release candidates", this release is for test only, so don't install it on your live website.

1) Changes

To learn more about new features of Piwigo 2.9, you can read the previous announcement announcement for 2.9.0beta1 + announcement for 2.9.0beta2.

Here is the list of changes compared to Piwigo 2.9.0beta2. First the changes for users:

* quick search now includes matching albums (as in Piwigo 2.6 and earlier)
* Piwigo will automatically notify (by email) when a new version is available
* speed improvement on album list
* ability to filter the list of ratings by albums
* many bugs fixed to prepare version 2.9.0

... and then more "technical" changes:

* more integrity checks (on deleted albums)
* mobile detection library was updated

Full list available on Github

2) Screenshots

When a new version is released, your Piwigo will notify you by email.

On album sort options, we have made obvious Piwigo was using the date of the photos (considering the album has no date itself)

3) Start to beta test

Download Piwigo 2.9.0RC1

If you can't install it but want to test it, just ask and we will happily provide a testing installation.

Please, open a new topic in the beta testing forum for each problem you may encounter.

The beta-testing continues and we still need your feedbacks :-) Beta-test installations hosted on piwigo.us/beta have already been updated.

Happy beta-testing :-)

Re: Piwigo 2.9.0RC1

Is there a proper way to upgrade from beta2? Just unzip into the existing directory and overwrite existing?
