[resolved] Install problem with MAMP on Mac

Hello/Hi/Greetings,

I am trying to install Piwigo on a Macbook using MAMP Pro 4.2

I get the following error when I run the install script:

"Connection to server successful, but the connection to the database was not possible."

I am a bit stuck as how to proceed. Do I have to create the database manually?

Any suggestions please?

Thanks in advance.

Piwigo version: 2.9.1
PHP version: 7.1.6
MySQL version: 5.6.35
Piwigo URL: http://

Re: [resolved] Install problem with MAMP on Mac

I solved the problem by creating an empty database using PHPMyAdmin then running the installation script once again, my empty database was then populated and Piwigo is up and running.

Glad you solved it.

Default behaviour for adding website solutions like Piwigo or Wordpress or many many others, is that you already have a database set up. They do not create the database for you, they only create tables.
