Bumping an old topic. We need something like this. Did anyone ever find a solution?

Background: We're trying to use Piwigo to make a large collection of foto's from historic ships searchable by keywords. Most of these ships have a 5-digit registration number. We could use these as tags, but a number like 20230 could also be part of a date or a pictures filename.

This is precisely what I am trying to do. I installed the custom fields plugin and managed to create some named fields but I can't see how to add them to photos or have them show up.
Has anyone done this and is willing to post a link or screen grab so I can see where I am supposed to be looking?

When I edit a photo there is nowhere to put data in the custom fields, they don't show up, only keywords and description.

Thank you ddtddt, user_custom_fields now works
BUT I made a mistake, what I want are photo_custom_fields not user_custom_fields, so I can add three searchable custom fields to car photographs (Manufacturer, Model and numberplate).
I see there is not a plugin for this :-(
It would be very useful and popular so I will post in the "Requests" forum.

Yes, I have tried "Extension" but couldn't get it to work. :-(
