Download This File Button

I am new to Piwigo. So far so good. I have it installed and have a few test albums up.

I have a question regarding the "Download this file" button that enables the downloading of photos.

I created 2 albums in what I believe to be the same way. The photos in one album does not have the button enabled, yet the second album I created does. I am not entirely sure how this button appears or where to set things up for a particular user/album, etc.

Example:

The photos in this album doesn't have the download button:
http://galleries.nicknphoto.com/index.php?/category/2

The photos in this album does:
http://galleries.nicknphoto.com/index.php?/category/5

I am confused.

Thanks
-Nick

Re: Download This File Button

OK, I just realized that. The galleries with no Download button has photos that are less than the display size. So I have the display size set to 800px on the long side and these photos are 795px, so I guess there's technically no hi-res version so no download button.

It would be nice to be able to control this button regardless of the resolution.

Re: Download This File Button

I did try the Download Multi, however it seems to apply to all galleries and also the admin settings are in another language than English despite having the English language option in the code. I can see that the text is still in another language.

So it was difficult to set things up, though I ultimately did. It's awkward in that I have to add the archive into the cart, then download. So it's certainly not an elegant solution.

However, again, the biggest drawback is that I cannot customize on the gallery level.

OK, I did this.

Just a comment on Piwigo in general. I think the product is nice. I think it's almost "there". I already have Zenfolio, Smugmug, and Flickr accounts and was looking for something to host my own photos on my own website domain for other purposes. I will keep the paid galleries, but the idea of hosting my own galleries is intriguing to me.

The biggest features I am looking for would be:
-More comprehensive and highly configuration security and protection at gallery and photo level.
-More options for photo sizing.
-Easier way to copy URL of a photo to embed into a webpage.
-A way to more elegantly download image/images.

If you know an other way to download pictures in a zip, or a better gallery script about this point, please tell us.

in the batch manager, the plugins [extension by P@t] Websize Regeneration et [extension by P@t] Thumbnails Regeneration is integrated in the next 2.3 (see the beta)

I get the "More comprehensive" : the documentation in English is not up to date and need seriously to be completed ! But what you means by "highly configuration security and protection at gallery and photo level" ? we have groups, user, level of privacy ...

best regards

ps: we do appreciate feedbacks, moreover from English people ! thx

Hi,

I didn't mean that whatever security features weren't comprehensive. I like the groups and users setup. Keeps thing very manageable. I think what I meant is moreover for protection of images and gallery in a more granular fashion. Actually it's day 2 of testing Piwigo so I can't really say for sure. Perhaps it's there already.

The first thing I noticed was the Download button. Hence this thread. It would be nice to be able to definitively enable/disable this independent of high resolution.

I have created a private gallery and gave permission to a family member and that work great.

I've checked out other open source galleries such as Zenphoto and Gallery, however so far I am finding Piwigo far superior in ease up getting up and running with a nice looking gallery.

This is pretty much exactly what I was looking for.

Keep up to great work PLEASE!

Hello, I am new to this site and I cam across this issue.  I am running "Piwigo 2.3.4"  All my files are high res, over 5M.  I still have an issue of the "download" icon showing on some and not the others.

I do not see how I can set the "display size" in this version, I tried with and without the autosize plugin.

Thanks for your help in advance.
