v2.4 for Piwigo.com

I am leaving for a fortnight's holiday en Bretagne tomorrow and when I return I intend to start loading all my back history of photographs into Piwigo.com v2.3

Can anyone give me some idea of when v2.4 will be available on Piwigo.com?
If not exactly when, roughly how soon after v2.4 is released will it be implemented in Piwigo.com?

Re: v2.4 for Piwigo.com

Hi Tadjio,

Before any availability on Piwigo.com, Piwigo 2.4 must be released as "stable", I mean 2.4.0. We still have to deal with [Forum, post 129832 by plg in topic 18684] [multisize] hotlinks and upgrade. Once Piwigo 2.4.0 is released, it will take several weeks before it's available on Piwigo.com and all galleries are not upgraded at the same time.

59 plugins and 33 themes are available on Piwigo.com. Nearly all themes/plugins need to be upgraded to be compatible with Piwigo 2.4. We will add compatible plugins/themes one by one on Piwigo.com v2.4. On Piwigo.com we'll maintain a version 2.3 and a version 2.4 as long as some galleries can't be upgraded to 2.4 due to a missing plugin/theme.

Let's look at the past :

* first upgrades to version 2.1 occured 4 months after 2.1 was released (it was our first large based upgrade)
* first upgrades to version 2.2 occured 1.5 month after 2.2 was released
* first upgrades to version 2.3 occured 1 month after 2.3 was released

Depending on the plugins/themes you use, your gallery may be upgraded after 4 weeks or 10 weeks.

Re: v2.4 for Piwigo.com

Thanks plg for your detailed reply.
As a newbie to Piwigo I am unaware of some of these issues but I like the default theme for 2.4 and I use very few plug-ins at present.  I'd be happy to be a guinea pig for you on Piwigo.com :-)

My biggest issue on the timing of the changeover from 2.3 to 2.4 is the sizing of images I upload.
Most of my back history of photos is already resized to 'screen size' so I can load them as 'original' with no resiing.

I think with my more recent images which I want hi-res copies of, I will have to use pLoader with resizing plus the HD as original.  This will then work for 2.3 and for 2.4.  Does that make sense?

I want my forthcoming images of Brittany to look as good as possible on Piwigo!

OK, you'll be.

That makes perfectly sense. During upgrade to Piwigo 2.4, only the original will be kept.
