I am using Elegant as my default theme in 2.4.1 and and trying to figure out how AutoSize works.

I have used "Generate Multiple Size Images" for all of my images and am trying to figure out if AutoSize picks the closest sized image based upon the browser window size and then resizes that image within the browser.  Based upon some tests that I've run, that isn't the case, but I can't find any documentation on how this actually works.

Does it work differently based upon what theme you're using?  Do all themes support AutoSize?
