I should warn personally everyone : this plugin is bugged and inefficient
Personally I would like to see it removed from the deposit...

I quite agree with flop25 but not enough to remove it completely from Piwigo.org extensions directory.
I have added a warning in the plugin description:
Warning: photos within a protected album remain reachable from a search, from tag or calendar browsing.

I would like to ask for an option of this plugin.
When a user logged on with his personal account, all protected albums should be available by default.
Even when you open you gallery as administrator you are asked for the password.
It should be possible to add an option like "Bypass password for registered users" or even more advanded for Admins/Family/Friends/Contacts when you set an album to protected.
Let's say I made a lot of photos on a party. I like to share these photos to all party visitors by providing them the password but my family should also see the photos without entering two different passwords.
Kind Regards

My last plugin for 2.4 only. Will you update for 2.5?

There is a problem with the display languages.
below demo..
http://toifoto.com/pw24/index.php?/password/1
Enter contents: Korean(한국어),Russian(русский),Chinese(中国的)
Output: Korean(???),Russian(???????),Chinese(???)
Are there any plans to update this for Piwigo 2.5.x compatibility? It has been quite some time since this has been updated, and I have been hesitant to update to 2.5 because I know this extension will break. A while back I had made several suggestions about potential improvements to this extension and had also suggested that this functionality might be absorbed into the main user/security architecture of the Piwigo environment.
I am not aware of any other extensions or methods that provide similar functionality, but I do think this is a great extension.
As always, the work on this extension and the whole Piwigo project is very much appreciated. Thanks very much.

Hi! I noticed if I go to my site via a mobile device, the password feature won't work on the mobile version of Piwigo. It shows the list of albums, and when I tap on it, I just get a blank page -- probably because it's waiting for password input, but the user is never prompted for the password info. Mobile support for the mobile version of Piwigo would be great!!
The plugin has not been updated since two years so don't expect any change

Hello,
I just updated and activated the 'Protected Albums' plugin and am now getting this error:
Warning: [mysql error 1064] You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'AND enabled='true'' at line 1 SELECT COUNT(*) as cat_count FROM xxxxx_protectalbum WHERE cat_id= AND enabled='true' in /home1/xxx/public_html/gallery/include/dblayer/functions_mysqli.inc.php on line 830 Fatal error: Call to a member function fetch_assoc() on a non-object in /home1/xxx/public_html/gallery/include/dblayer/functions_mysqli.inc.php on line 211
This error appears when clicking on thumbnails in the History > Search screen and also in the Specials menu, e.g. 'Most visited'. The error does not appear when clicking on thumbnails in regular albums.
I am guessing this plugin is the culprit because of the reference to the 'protectalbum' MySQL table in the error, and when I deactivate the plugin, the error does not appear.
