Piwigo Licensing

Hi All,

I have a small photo scanning business and store my customers photos online for their retrieval.  I pay pretty hefty fees for having these photos redundantly backed up in several locations. I charge my customers a small fee for this service.

I just discovered Piwig and am so very impressed. What a great community and product.

Am I able to use Piwig to create my customers their own accounts on my host and have them take more control of their photos?

I read the Piwigo Licensing agreement and am still unclear on this.  I understand the difference between freedom and a fee beer.  I am a SBO and realize I would need to donate / give back to the Piwig community in someway for using the product.

Wanted to get a clear answer before heavily vesting time into setting up this great product.

Thanks in advance for your time in reading this.

Re: Piwigo Licensing

Hi

it's Piwigo, not Piwig

all is explained on the GPL Wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_General_Public_License

short: you can do what ever you want without any retribution
like http://piwigo.com does

Re: Piwigo Licensing

Many photographers all over the world are using Piwigo for their business and they don't have to "give back". Of course, the Piwigo Association would appreciate a donation, but you decide if want to donate, when and how much ;-)

I hope you will have a nice business "powered by Piwigo" !
