I'm looking for an extension that would allow me to charge a membership fee to access certain galleries.

This is a very big plugin with a lot of critical points.
I guess nobody will do it for free.

If you don't expect hundreds users you could also manage it manually.
The permissions system is ready to use and you can track subscriptions with an Excel sheet.
Add to this for example a PWG Stuff block only visible by the "Subscription expired" group, and users get a reminder and a link to Paypal (or other stuff)
