iOS Beta app: HTTPS and login hostname

Hi everyone!

I'm beta testing the iOS beta app and I think I see problems using HTTPS for logging in.
If I change the http (which is indeed default) to https by tapping it, then fill out www.mysite.com/gallery (with or without trailing /), I get an error that the site probably doesn't support SSL (error -1012). Also, in case there's a problem logging in, the app removes the www from the hostname, which is not that great because www.site.com != site.com, especially when it comes to ssl.

If I use http I can login fine (so username/pwd work), but albums listed with 93 pics in don't show any pictures. Not sure if this is a permission problem, I login with a user with admin rights, so it should work. Can test that last bit a bit more.

Anyone any ideas?

/Robin

Yay, someone that has SSL to test this!

Well, that's embarrassing. Yes, it should leave the www in there if you type it in. That should fix your issue.

I use HTTPS / SSL as standard and have no problems ...

Re: iOS Beta app: HTTPS and login hostname

What I more or less tried to report is two issues:

- Hostname (keep the www or whatever people write in front of the hostname)
- SSL prob

The first problem is not the cause for my https login problem, since my cert and server also accept https://site.tld (as well as https://www.site.tld).

My SSL problem seems to be something else.

Re: iOS Beta app: HTTPS and login hostname

Error -1012 means "User Cancelled Authentication". So, yes, that is another problem.

Do you have an invalid certificate?

Re: iOS Beta app: HTTPS and login hostname

I'm using the same auth as the set that works on http, the cert is a public cert for just that website that works  find in browsers (both with and without www).

Re: iOS Beta app: HTTPS and login hostname

Just an update with the latest version, the one that just came (7) that's supposed to go into the AppStore.

When connecting to my gallery at https://www.vleij.com I get "NSURLErrorDomain error -1012". But the cert if valid and works without warning in all major browsers.

So something's fishy. :)

I'll take a look at it. Thanks for posting your URL so I have something to test against!

Re: iOS Beta app: HTTPS and login hostname

Okay, I found and fixed the issue. I wasn't setting the appropriate handshake settings.

Sorry about that!

- Fixed.

Cool, I found a bug (and you fixed it)!

Will there be a new beta version?

Yeah! Thanks for reporting that.
Build 8 is out, test it to see if you can login to your Piwigo. :)

Yes, works fine.

However, you have to fix the same problem for the upload module, I get the error there as well.

Re: iOS Beta app: HTTPS and login hostname

Hi!

Sorry, I only found this thread back after I was looking for something else on the forum. :-)
Yes, it works fine! :)

But a little feedback anyway, more a UI thing:

- To choose the albums, it's just a long list of albums (and sub-albums). Here some sort of smarter navigation would be great for those that have many albums
- To pick picks from the phone, it works differently than other apps somehow. Photostreams are listed per month and such? Why not just the albums and shared streams?

For the rest it's great. :)
