Images show as X when uploaded - 2.8.1

I am trying to upload new pictures and it says when I try to look at them, they failed to upload.
Where do I go from here, as I have not had any problems before?
I have 6 pictures like this on the meetings 2016.

I went to the FAQ page.
Paragraph 2 - view image - says image can't be displayed because it contains errors.
Is that a clue???

yes it does
download it and open with a text editor ; it shoudl display an error at the first lines. Error which should be also in server logs
