I'd like to recommend a possible streamable implementation into Piwigo.
Streamable allows direct linking to the video streams, and I believe that videos can also be uploaded through their API.

A plugin to implement streamable videos would be quite useful, as it is potentially better for the gallery owner than YouTube in certain cases (e.g. it does not reencode your videos unless they go over a certain bitrate so you keep the full quality, also users can download your videos by right click > save as, etc).

But since this was manually added, it's not a perfect implementation.
