Hi Everyone--
I love Piwigo, but I've run into a snag-
It's taking up to a minute to first connect with our installation. Using tools.pingdom.com it looks like loading html is taking up much of the time.
Once in the galleries everything is pretty zippy, but that first connection is very slow.
I suspect it has something to do with the host server or it's settings as I have a mirror hosted on another site that loads nearly twice as fast.
Any guidance would be a big help. I think we're on the way to a superior experience for our staff and visitors if we could resolve this initial slowdown.

i can confirm it, the initial request takes very long.
Did you contact your hosting provider about it?
I had a similar issue with my previous provider (Arvixe) on shared hosting. And almost all PHP driven CMS were affected, independent which one i installed.
My final solution was to switch the hosting provider. Now it's running smooth.

Another hour on the phone with tech support and we have narrowed the culprit to a custom plugin- it was working fine before a hosting upgrade but now it's an app killer.
With plugin deactivated, site is zippy from start to finish.
Back to the drawing board I guess. It's a global filter that is very useful so we'll have to figure what's going south.
Otherwise our visitors love the Piwigo experience. Thanks for all the great work.
