Hello,
what is needed to get GPS information from images with makernotes?
I tried without success:
* several PHP versions: 7.1.4, 7.0.18, 5.6.30
* "$conf["show_exif"] = $conf["use_exif"] = true;"
I stripped makernotes from images and the coordinates were read to confirm the correct installation of, but that's not a viable solution for me.
The "Exiftool GPS" plugin doesn't work on my shared hosting.
Piwigo version: 2.9.0
MySQL version: 5.7.18
TIA,
Oliver

I have made a plugin with uses ImageMagick instead of exiftool for all who cannot use exiftool at their webspace.

Hello,
i had the same problem like OliverB, that no GPS data is readout from the exif data of my pictures. The plugin exiftool_gps can only be used when i have full access to my webserver to install exiftool. Therefore i tried another attempt to fix the bug with the gps data. The php version, which is installed at my website provider, has imagick PHP extension. Imagick has also the ability to readout exif data. So i made the ImageMagick GPS plugin to add missing gps values to exif data with the help of imagick PHP extension. Thats all.
Feel free to give it a try and report success or problems:

Hi flop25,
sorry for the late reply and the vague description of the problem in my OP.
I thought it's widely known, because there are several threads describing that GPS data is not read from images with makernotes in the EXIF section.
A few postings say it's a PHP problem therefore I tried several PHP versions without any success.
Many thanks to ZeBe, I didn't have the time to check the plugin but will do so in a few days.
The plugin is also a good lesson for me how to do more mangling of the GPS data, e.g. I want to use the GPS destination coordinates GPSDestLatitude etc. if present, that's better suited for aerial images since people want to see what's on the picture and not where the camera was.
