Hello/Hi/Greetings,
I am trying to update my PIWIGO to 2.9.1
I believe I have 2.7.4 at the moment.
When I go to "Tools" then "Updates" and then click on the button that reads "Update to Piwigo 2.9.1" I get one of two results: Either the screen goes to a blank white screen and then nothing happens, or I eventually get a time out error message.
I do not know how to tell what PHP version or MySQL I am using. My host is Dreamhost.

I am new to Piwigo, but I am also with Dreamhost - and Dreamhost offers Piwigo as a one-click install. This week the install failed. I wrote to Dreamhost support, and received this reply:
"The installation of Piwigo was not compatible with the php version set for your domain. I set your domain to
use php 5.6 and the site is now loading. After completing the installation you may upgrade Piwigo to version 4.8 which is compatible with php 7. You may change the php version for your domain by clicking on Domains > Manage Domains > then click on 'edit' beneath web hosting."
I am guessing that your problem may be with php 7 at Dreamhost.
That action allowed me to successfully complete the installation of Piwigo... and so far it looks terrific. I have some concerns. If I upgrade to Piwigo 2.9.1 it may or may not work. Since I am temporarily using php 5.6 is will probably be okay, but your information suggests that it may break the site when I have Dreamhost re-apply php 7. I am at this forum to find out if Piwigo 2.9.1 will work with php 7 (and I have not found the answer).
The other issue is that the Dreamhost tech support recommended that I upgrade Piwigo to v 4.8, a version that does not seem to exist.
So, I am hesitating to upgrade Piwigo to 2.9.1.

Okay, at this URL I have found that since Piwigo v 2.8.0 the application is compatible with php 7.

For me, that's good news.
I hope this will help you to sort out your problems with Dreamhost. I also hope that Dreamhost will update their one-click install of Piwigo.

Interesting. I didn't have any issues with the one click install of Piwigo 2.7.4 That worked smooth.
Upgrading - that's a different story....
