for the 'sending mail problem' look here:

For the about page you can install 'PersoAbout' plugin, then you are able to add your own 'About' text.
Otherwise you need to edit a core file to add text, which I would not recommend-

For the comments:
The comments are usually placed on the picture page. If you want allow comments for guests you need to check comments for everyone in the backend.
Some themes have some extra settings for comments-maybe you shuld check theme settings.

Since I do not use videos on my site I can not help here.

Ok sorry, just one question,  gotcha.  and the persoabout worked great,
So I guess my real prob is the comments: there is no  comment section, although each picture has the allow comments check in the comments config
No   Yes    Apply to sub-albums
and the same is checked in the Config section 
    Activate comments
    Comments for all
    Number of comments per page
no Config for the theme  using Silvia  uptodate on piwigo  using dream host for the sever end

  in the Search menu it does have the Comments  but it is to search for comments.

all i am missing is the link to make the comments as user and as admin

thru edit picture I can add a title but the description doesn't show  maybe related?

Ok Am I just missing how to navigate to that thru the albums?  what am I missing?  should there  be a nav button on each to get there?
