Greetings fellow Piwigans...

I'm running latest version, after being dormant for a few years (I confess, I was slightly enamoured of SmugMug for awhile). Anyway, I'm back and uploading on to my site like crazy.

When I finish an album, I want to share it to FB...but when I do, it doesn't show me the album image thumbnail preview, just the "link" preview box. In other words, "now you don't see it".

But here's the wonky part...if I delete the preview, and repaste the link into the status window, it reloads the link preview, and this time? It shows the preview image too. (Hence the "now you do" in the subjct line).

So as long as I'm willing to paste, delete, repaste, then sharing on FB works fine. Even the FB plugin allows me to do that. Same with images even. Nothing at first, but if I paste a second time, voila, there's the image.

I don't know if it is a Piwigo problem or a FB problem. I found this thread where he was having a similar problem back in the day, but it just started working again for him, no idea why.

Mmm, i have it sometimes to.
it looks more off a facebook error then piwigo.
it looks like facebook needs time to show the picture.
i use the Bootstrap Darkroom theme

Thanks Sport. It's hit and miss with me. All of a sudden, it started doing instant previews just fine. Then it stopped again. Interestingly, sometimes it would show me just the link box, but when I posted it, it would show me the link box initially and then LATER it would show others an actual preview image.

i checked a lot op web pages what you can find on the piwigo showcase page.
and a lot have the same problem, weird nobody else is making some noise about it.

al the facebook extentions have it.....

ones again i checked in https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object/
and i dont understand it?

Oke i get different errors.

Provided og:image URL, http://...../_data/i/upload/2018/03/31/20180331185532-ea6e09a4-th.jpg was not valid because it did not meet the minimum size constraint of 200px by 200px.

The provided 'og:image' properties are not yet available because new images are processed asynchronously. To ensure shares of new URLs include an image, specify the dimensions using 'og:image:width' and 'og:image:height' tags

According to Facebook.

 this is a known problem.  The preview image isn't displayed until the Facebook crawler sees it, so the first person to share a page may not see a preview.

So with that sadly stated, the only thing you can do is to publish the post.  From our experience Facebook does a much better job of grabbing the images when the post is actually published than it does in the preview.

Nobody a solution to this?

80% off the visitors on my site comes from facebook.
So i must do things different now.
just upload to facebook with a link back to my site :)
