Hello/Hi/Greetings,
here is a problem I've had for the second time. I have a photogallery that is big (76000 photos). After uploading some photos I can not go to the Administration tabs anymore. I get following error:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Warning: [mysql error 1104] The SELECT would examine more than MAX_JOIN_SIZE rows; check your WHERE and use SET SQL_BIG_SELECTS=1 or SET MAX_JOIN_SIZE=# if the SELECT is okay

LEFT JOIN piwigo_image_category ON id = image_id
WHERE category_id is null

Does anyone know a solution. I don't want to restart the gallery anymore. I don't want to leave Piwigo, but if I can not fix this, I don't see any other solution!

Unf I didn't hear anything new. I can't update or do anything anymore... Any suggestions? If not, I'm afraid I'll have to remove Piwigo and look for something else...
Grtz,

Hi Pat2309,
As the error message suggests, this is a database setting issue. Piwigo code is no really the right place to configure the database. You should contact your web hosting provider with this error message and see how they can modifiy their configuration.
Even if 76k photos is starting to be "a lot", it is far from being what Piwigo can handle. For example, on Piwigo.com, we have many users with more than 500k photos, and it runs perfectly :-)

Hi plg,
thanks for the reply. I will take contact with my web hosting. If they can not help I might just wait for the 3.0 version and start all over.
I was always supersatisfied with Piwigo and really don't feel like changing.
Best regards,

Finally I found the answer. I had to go to the database via phpMyAdmin and OPTIMIZE and/or REPAIR the Database. That solved the problem!
Super, now I'm back on track!
