LocalFiles Edit seems to have stopped working

Hello,

I have been using the LocalFiles Editor plugin to import IPTC data instead of EXIF and have successfully imported several albums whose photos are displayed with the IPTC Title and Keywords (importing using the Web Form method).

This evening my system seems to have stopped working, and for each recently added photo the Readmetadata plugin tells me that there is no IPTC data but reams of EXIF data.

I have checked that the Local/Config/config.inc.php file is in place and its contents are still:

<?php

  $conf['show_iptc'] = true;
  $conf['use_iptc'] = true;
  $conf['show_exif'] = false;

?>

I have also downloaded some of the relevant jpg files in the Upload directory and they still have their IPTC data intact.

I am using Firefox with Windows 10.

Any suggestions will be welcome.

John Clifford

Re: LocalFiles Edit seems to have stopped working

Hello
does your hosting changed their php version
in php 7.2 the exif function has been updated
can you check with tools/metadata.php what Php reads from your files? Maybe you now have to adapt a little deeper the local config (correct the iptc mapping)

Re: LocalFiles Edit seems to have stopped working

Thank you for your response.

I do not know whether my host PHP version has been upgraded recently.

I am attaching (I hope) screenshots of results from using metadata.php and Windows Explorer Properties on 2 photos which were uploaded together into the same album.

I have also tried uploading 4 photos in a new album - one has kept its IPTC data and the other 3 have none.
It seems a very capricious bug or effect.

Re: LocalFiles Edit seems to have stopped working

don't use Windows to check the IPTC but picture software such as Lightroom or XNView
Piwigo doesn't remove iptc at upload ; check the files in /upload

Re: LocalFiles Edit seems to have stopped working

I have looked at the IPTC data in Photoshop Elements Organiser and it is fine.  As I said in an earlier post, the metadata in the files in the Upload directory is intact.

I am going to try using Galleries to upload and synch albums to see if that gives better results than the Upload/Form method.

Re: LocalFiles Edit seems to have stopped working

I have reverted to the Direct Upload method and am doing better now.

I think the problem may have been that the rules for file names are set out only in the Help screen for the FTP/Galleries method so I did not realise that they might apply to all file and album names using other methods - or is this not so?
