moving gallery to new server but with a twist

I've read the other posts about how to move a photo gallery to a new server but I have a bit of a different issue to deal with.  The active gallery is Version 2.6.1 When the hosting service upgraded their PHP, the gallery broke and I'm not able to upgrade to the current version.  In the meantime, I'm setting up a new WordPress site on a new hosting service and need to move the gallery. Rather than try and fix the active version, I'm thinking that I would install Piwigo through Softaculous on the new host so the version is current.  If I'm reading the other posts correctly, is it going to work to export the database from old server and import on new server and then just move the uploads folder that contains the images?

Am I missing something or will this work?  Just wondering what issues I need to watch for before I start the process.

Piwigo version: 2.6.1 but moving to new host with current version
PHP version: currently 7.0.33
MySQL version:
Piwigo URL: http://www.champclark.org/archives/

I'm sure you mean copy, not move. Seems like you have nothing to lose in trying it right?

Re: moving gallery to new server but with a twist

I tried copying the "uploads" folder to the new install on the new hosting service but no luck.  Gallery shows 0 photos.

Any suggestions?

I'm not seeing a data file.  Where would I locate it?

I located the data folder - I had failed to download it from the old server.

There are files in the new install data folder. When I copy the old data files, are those getting overwritten or just in addition to what's already there?

The _data file from the old install has been copied to the new install and still nothing.  Zero images in gallery.

Re: moving gallery to new server but with a twist

Which boxes should I check?  Attached page view.

My folder that contains the piwigo files is called "archives".  Is that going to make any difference?  On this sync page, I'm seeing "galleries"

I left the name as archives because that was the name on the old server and thought that might need to be the same.

Thanks for your patience in helping me with this.

You can experiment with the options. As long as simulation is checked, no permanent changes will be made.

Nothing worked.  The Galleries folder is empty so it's not seeing anything to sync.

Re: moving gallery to new server but with a twist

And the database was successfully copied and Piwigo is connecting to it?

Re: moving gallery to new server but with a twist

I copied the "uploads" folder and the "_data" folder from the old install to the new install. That's all I've done.  I have not done anything with the actual database.  That was going to be my next question to you.
