Re: Piwigo 2.10 in preparation

Hi,

I did some tests on PHP 7.3 with Piwigo 2.9.4 and I didn't notice any issues. I don't know if I'm the only one in this situation.

You can maybe try to update your PHP version and feedback if you get some problems.

Re: Piwigo 2.10 in preparation

Hi,

If there are some smaller bugfixes I am eager to contribute.

I would like to have a feature, which allows me to upload pictures, without putting them in an album :) [ I am using Smart album for that)

I use smart albums too. I just use a hidden dummy album when I upload.

JShrink throws around deprecated warnings, see [Github] Piwigo issue #951
Other than that, no issues so far.

It's not that insane if you have a static setup. If it's working for somebody without problem, and they don't need support, and don't particularly care about security ... why upgrade and risk breaking something?

Unless your Piwigo server isn't connected to the internet, not caring about security _is_ insane.

From a software developer's point of view: why would you want to hold back support for recent supported versions just to keep compatibility for old version that even upstream doesn't give a damn about anymore. It doesn't make sense. It's like keeping back some lines of code that would make things work with Windows 10, just because it will stop working on XP then. Or Mac OS Mojave vs. Snow Leopard. Or Java 11 vs. 1.6. Upstream doesn't care anymore, so why should anyone?

Not caring about security implies not caring about latest versions anyway, so don't upgrade, all good. NTARS ok, but don't cry if you're left behind with features and bug fixes. You just need to be consequent, don't upgrade anything, ever :-)

The statistics were for all servers, not just Piwigo. For example I have a computer that serves out some automotive data. There is nothing important to me on the computer, or that I need to keep secret. Even if something happens, I wipe and reload.

It runs fine and no changes are ever made and there are no bugs, so don't need new features or support.

Just noticed the new logo on the web site ... nice. Is that related to the upcoming release? ;)

Not really. It's just the new logo :-) But yes, it will be in release 2.10 (maybe even in 2.9.5 if any)
