Step 6 - FTP upload
Transfer the new release (5 min.).
Use your standard FTP to upload the new release (Check you have no errors).

Does this mean transfer the zipped release, and unzip it on the server? In that case it will be in a different directory than my 1.7.3. Is that the intention? Will it then go and notice my older version and upgrade it?

Or should I move the whole directory structure of unzipped files so that they overwrite my 1.7.3 directories? This option doesn't feel right....

Sorry to be dense about this, but when it came time to upgrade (unlike plain installing, which is easy!) I was no longer sure.

For an upgrade, it should be transferred to the folder of the old structure.

We are only speaking about unzip file from:

Step 1 - Package preparation
Download the full package and unzip it (2-3 min.).
After unzip, delete the 0 bytes file: include/mysql.inc.php (it will prevent you from a lost of your access parameters).
