Newbie, can Piwigo aut resize images on user upload?

Hi,

First a BIG THANKS for this great piece of software!

I am looking for the ability to allow user uploads of images. Now this in itself is not a problem BUT I noticed that a lot of people have rather large photos 9even from their mobile phones0 and would like to offer a very simple method, similar to the pLoader functionality. The user should be allowed to upload any size/dimension of images and during the upload the system will reduce it to the maximum allowed.

Is this possible?

Regards
Peter

Possible: no doubt.
Already available: not at all.
You could do it if you have some competencies.

So in other words, I would need to write a plug-in?

My opinion is that we should make pLoader the standard tool for user upload. We need new features for this or a major redesign of user upload but this is the way we should take.

I don't think that giving the permissions for users to upload a 10MB photo is a good idea.

Re: Newbie, can Piwigo aut resize images on user upload?

plg,

I agree, there should be parameters available as they currently are in the upload but a resize on the fly to a fixed size or maybe even dimensions as in pLoader and as we are collecting suggestions, how about compression? Then you can set a maximum filesize and the upload compresses it to the necessary size and quality.

The only problem is that I'd like this asap....

Will use an online resizer to get users to shrink the images as required in the meantime.

Peter

I think we might have already... in fact but not really known.
I have to search in forum.

I found it !!!

WARNING: Take care, it is not running anymore but just for a simple reason:
We changed the menu logic (this can be solved).
Uploader_plus

Please ask by PM to linuxlefty to update it
and making this plugin public.

It includes:
width and height (in pixels) for a java applet
Moderation Mode bypass
An automatic Thumbnails creation (CPU intensive)
Maximum original specifications: width, height, and size
