(the "is album thumbnail of" sounds a bit weird, don't you think?)

It does.

What about "is thumbnail for" and "is not thumbnail for"?  It reads better.

Re: How to set representative photo for Parent Album

Hi,

Sorry to be so late to this discussion (only just started evaluating Piwigo), but I also struggled to find this feature.

@plg - you asked "where is the best place for this feature" in your second post.

Well, looking in the picture details to set it as a thumbnail for one or more albums is fine (actually in 2.8 it's also an icon at the top of the picture details). BUT, that is not the place one would really go looking for it.

Instead, the feature really should be in album properties.  Instead of asking "what albums is this picture a thumbnail for" most (english-speaking) people would ask "what picture is the thumbnail for this album".

So IMHO, I'd suggest you add a way to set the album thumbnail from the album properties as well as the current system.

With best regards,
- Micha.

It sounds nice, but I don't know how to do that. Do you mean a list of all photo names? My problem is about ergonomy.

You already have a well-working filtering and display system for the Photo Batch Manager function.  Re-use that?  Nice array of thumbnails for the user to choose from.

Default filter for this function would be the photos in the current album; I imagine that would be 99% of the usage.

Cheers,
- Micha.

Re: How to set representative photo for Parent Album

Hi,

In the post you define how to set representative photo for Parent Album selecting one picture as Thumbnail.
That is ok if you have all Album with Picture in it.

The problem I've is that my Album are all organized in Tree with Album and Sub Album. Album with Sub Album has no foto. How I choose Thumbnail in this case ? At the moment it seems I can't.
The best would be if parent photo representative could be not only a photo but a sub album (or better is rapresentative photo)

To better explain I give you an example

I've this folder tree:

ALBUM1
  - SUB ALBUM 1
       - PHOTO 11  *
       - PHOTO 12
  - SUB ALBUM 2 *
       -PHOTO 21
       - PHOTO 21 *

What I like to do is to specify
- PHOTO 11 is thubnail for Sub Album 1
- PHOTO 21 is thubnail for Sub Album 2
- SUB ALBUM 2 is thumbnail for ALBUM 1
you can see "*" for the thubnail selected.

If I do so I've :
Thumbnail for Album 1 is PHOTO 11
Thumbnail for Sub Album 1 is PHOTO 11
Thumbnail for Sub Album 2 is PHOTO 21

Please let me know if you see this feasible somehow.

Thank you for all your work in piwingo.

Regards
Ivan
