Hi!
I'm on the way creating my gallary with piwigo. But have some troubles with permissions. I want to create albums (categories) A,B containing all photos in gallary, then i want to create several virtual smart albums vA, vB, and show some photos from A and B there (for ex. A,B -> vA). I also want grant users from group grA access to vA album only. And users from group grB have access to all virtual albums, but not real (A,B). Hope it's not very complicated...

Is it a bug or not?
Clear installation 2.4.1
While uploading photos i'v created collection with name A. All photos in it have -All- permission (visible for everybody). Then i created user group with name users, and set it for viewing collection A.
I'v made smart collection, gave it public permissions, named it vA, added photos from collection A.
Then i logged to frontend as user test (who has user permissions, and no group), so i cant see "A" collection, but can see "vA" collection.
When i enter to vA collection its nothing there (though there should be 3 photos according to filter).
And the most interesting: when i go to keywords i can simply choose tags, and watch all those pics, which are in my vA smart album, but only those pics, which are in smart collection.
So what is it?

can you do a test for me ?

-restaure lines 24 and 25 of main.inc.php *
-delete line 19 of include/page_items.php
-is the behavior still correct ?

seems to be fine, can see images inside smart albums, while source albums are being closed.

with version 2.0.2 uncheck "Exclude SmartAlbums from permissions management" on cnfig tab to get the wanted behavior
