[resolved] Update from 2.3.5 to 2.4.1 caused incorrect DB reference

I updated from 2.3.5 to 2.4.1 and got a page of mysql errors.  The first error was that the table "users" did not exist.  This was true in that ALL tables in my database are prefixed by "piwigo_".  Taking a chance, I copied the mysql piwigo_users.MYI, .MYD, and .frm to just "users.MYI", etc. (leaving the original table untouched) and now everything appears to work correctly, however I'm concernd that future updates may lose user data.

I was instructed to "open a new topic", I hope that is what I have done here.

TIA for any help.
- Richard

Sure, its a bit long....  and note that I _did_ check to see if "$prefixeTable" was defined, and found it defined in "database.inc.php" like this:  "$prefixeTable = 'piwigo_';"

*
* It is recommended to let config_default.inc.php as provided and to

*
* Why having some parameters in config table and others in

//
//  - date_available : the date of the adding to the gallery
//  - file : the name of the file
//  - id : element identifier
//  - date_creation : date of element creation
//
// Once you've chosen which field(s) to use for ordering, you must chose the
// ascending or descending order for each field.  examples :
//
// 1. $conf['order_by_custom'] = " order by date_available desc, file asc";
//    will order pictures by date_available descending & by filename ascending
//
// 2. $conf['order_by_custom'] = " order by file asc";
//    will only order pictures by file ascending without taking into account
//    the date_available

Re: [resolved] Update from 2.3.5 to 2.4.1 caused incorrect DB reference

OK, exactly what I was expecting :-/ you have copied the whole include/config_defaults.inc.php into local/config/config.inc.php.

You'd better restart your local configuration from scratch with only what is really specific to your gallery.

Re: [resolved] Update from 2.3.5 to 2.4.1 caused incorrect DB reference

Hmmm, I didn't copy anything, I just went into the Administration GUI and told it to update.  AFTER that was done, and failed, I copied the "piwigo_users.*" stuff, but I did not copy any config files.  And it was working before.  Perhaps I copied it in the original installation back 3 years ago?  I don't recall.

I'm not sure how to do what you ask since I've always configured using the GUI, so I don't really know what values are "specific" to my gallery.

Re: [resolved] Update from 2.3.5 to 2.4.1 caused incorrect DB reference

No it's sounds more like you opened the default config file, with Localfiles editor, copy/paste its content into the local config on the text area.
at least remove
// piwigo_users table.
$conf['users_table'] = $prefixeTable.'users';

or clean everything if you're sure you've never made significant changes.

Re: [resolved] Update from 2.3.5 to 2.4.1 caused incorrect DB reference

I must have copied it back when I first set up the app 3 years ago.  I removed it and put a blank file in its place.  There were a couple of complaints, (about $conf['use_exif'] and $conf['show_exif'] not being set to false), so I updated it with those settings, and everything seems to be happy now, including now using the "piwigo_users" file instead of trying to use plain "users".

Thanks very much for your help, I appreciate it.   I think you can mark this issue "resolved".
