[S3Upload] Plugin update mechanism

I just issued the first update to my S3Upload plugin, but I'm not sure how users are prompted to update. To me it appears as though there are two different plugins offered to users: the original (version 1.0) and the first update (v 1.12).

Can anyone advise me as to how plugin developers approach this?

Thanks.

Thx ;-)
Have you checked if the plugin information are correct in main.Inc.php? The plugin URI mostly

Re: [S3Upload] Plugin update mechanism

Oh, ok. So what happened is this: In version 1.0 the URI was "http://piwigo.org/ext/extension_view.php?eid=TODO" since I had not yet created my extension entry at http://piwigo.org/ext/ , and did not know what EID would be assigned.

With version 1.12, I changed it to the proper URI "http://piwigo.org/ext/extension_view.php?eid=691"

So I guess that is my problem.

Does this mean the 35 people who downloaded version 1.0 would have to uninstall it and install 1.12 (or future revisions that will all have eid=691) to get everything in order?

Any ideas for a work-around to avoid that uninstall + install?

Re: [S3Upload] Plugin update mechanism

Okay *^▁^*
They do not need to uninstall -I think - because the files will overwrite the old ones
