connecting existing pictures to piwigo

Hello/Hi/Greetings,

all my pictures are stored in my ~/PICS
i installed the piwigo at /var/www/piwigo

i don't want to change the location of my pictures. what would be the best way to access my pictures from piwigo (maybe create a symlink from the galleries dir to the PICS dir?)

Piwigo version: 2.6.2
PHP version: 5.3.10-1ubuntu3.11
MySQL version: 14.14 Distrib 5.5.35
Piwigo URL: http://localhost

Re: connecting existing pictures to piwigo

hello

yes a symlink is the perfect solution
make /var/www/piwigo/galleries (or one subfolder) points to ~/PICS

it's obviously totally transparent

ps: this question has been answered numerous times, please search on the forum

Re: connecting existing pictures to piwigo

Thanks,

i did looked at the forum and i did found this this solution here but, i was hoping that there might be a better solution.
when i create a new album i want the result to be a new directory (with the name as the album) in my ~/PICS directory and not just in the database.
my final goal is to have something like a dropbox in the sense that each picture i take with my phone or upload from my pc will be stored in my ~/PICS and (after refresh) appear in my piwigo web site.

I don't see how the symlink solution does not cover your need

when i create a new album i want the result to be a new directory (with the name as the album) in my ~/PICS directory and not just in the database.

so create the folder in the filesystem and not in Piwigo

PICS is your "dropbox" and Piwigo syncs itself to the directory
