Unable to get permissions correct :(

Hello.

I am new to piwigo, generally I am really happy with it! I was easy to get started and it looks good.
I have just had some problems with getting the final permission settings like I want.

Here is my setup:
I have imported all images using "Database Synchronization With Files: ./Galleries/"

My file struture looks like this:
root@nuci5:/var/www/piwigo/galleries# ls
Foton  index.php
root@nuci5:/var/www/piwigo/galleries# cd  Foton
root@nuci5:/var/www/piwigo/galleries/Foton# ls
D3100  D7100  Rest

D3100 and D7100 are my Nikon cameras, each folder then has sub directories that contain one album each, like this:

root@nuci5:/var/www/piwigo/galleries/Foton/D7100/2014-01-19-BW# ls
DSC_1154.jpg  DSC_1155.jpg  DSC_1156.jpg  DSC_1157.jpg  DSC_1158.jpg  DSC_1162.jpg

During the import, I chose "Who can see these photos?" "Admins, Family"
I want my album to only be accessibly to my logged in users.

There are my users.
Username    Status    Email address    Groups    Privacy level    registration date
mihaly     Webmaster    nullpointer84@yahoo.se    familjen    Admins    2014-09-21 13:06:17
guest     Guest                2014-09-21 13:06:17
daria     Administrator        familjen    Family    2014-09-22 21:51:17
mamma     User        familjen    Family    2014-09-22 21:51:26
viktoria     User        familjen    Family    2014-09-22 21:51:37
susanna     User        familjen    Family    2014-09-22 21:52:05
ivan     User            Friends    2014-10-06 07:56:28
людмила     User        familjen    Family    2014-10-07 08:01:46

I have messed around with different permission settings for my albums but don't seam to be able to get it right :( My exact problems:

1) My trusted main users and group "familjen" should have full view access to D7100, D3100 and Rest.
For some reason they can "only" see "D7100, D3100", I can view everytime for my account(mihaly), my wifes account(daria) can see the directory structure for "Rest", but can't see any photos.

2) My Friends account(ivan) is allowed one sub album inside D7100, when I try to add additional once, they simply don't show up for his login. I went into one of these other albums and set permissions explicitly for his account and nothing.

I know this simply can't be the case, but it feels like my piwigo just like ran out of permissions to give. Either that or it has one more layer of permissions that I can't edit/see in the administration gui.

Re: Unable to get permissions correct :(

Hello
I recommend you to use the plugin Take A Tour
Also you gave us half the info. What about the permission on the albums?

Re: Unable to get permissions correct :(

Thanks for the quick reply.
I tried a few variation of the configuration, but here is what I have right now

My album tree:
Foton (Private with access for group "familjen" and users: "mihaly" and "ivan")
-D7100 (Private with access for group "familjen" and users: "mihaly" and "ivan")
-D3100 (Private with access for group "familjen" and users: "mihaly" and "ivan")
-Rest (Private with access for group "familjen" and users: "mihaly")

Referring to my problems in previous post:
1)
Foton-Rest-2012-08-12 (Private with access for group "familjen" and users: "mihaly")
I seem to be the only one that can see these images.
http://sv.tinypic.com/r/167mhk8/8

2)
Further down:
-D7100-2014-10-04 (Private with access for group "familjen" and users: "mihaly" and "ivan") - this album is visible for "ivan" when logged in, as should be.
-D7100-2014-04-06 (Private with access for group "familjen" and users: "mihaly" and "ivan") - this album is not visible for "ivan" when logged in even tho it should.
Actually I did a small check and his user is shown on all sub albums to "D7100", but the only one he can see is "-D7100-2014-10-04"

Hope you can help me.

I check the big list as well where you have two list, with locked a not locked, nothing is locked.

Being a developer myself I am starting to feel like this is bug :)

I would rather not put up my credentials for the whole Internet to see, but if you can send me an email, I will grant you access. I am making these posts with my email, I sure you should have access to it in some way.

Thanks again for your help!

Re: Unable to get permissions correct :(

admin.php?page=batch_manager&filter=album-9 Pictures are all for Family level, and so Ivan doesn't see  that sub album 2014-04-06-SaabTurboClub-Knutstorp

If you don't need the level of eprmission on pictures, just don't use them

Ah, I think I am starting to understand now, but where/how do I change the privacy level for a whole album?
If I go in a single picture ie (admin.php?page=photo-16420) I can change that, but where can I easily change it for the whole album?

You might wanna consider adding "Who can see this photo?" on this page admin.php?page=album-1-permissions

I first said "I recommend you to use the plugin Take A Tour "
now would say "I strongly recommend you to use the plugin Take A Tour"
