broken link when using seo friendly urls & posting to facebook

Hello,

First, thanks for Piwigo.  It's turning into a great alternative to GalleryX.

Second, apologies if this is covered somewhere else.  I've looked but come up empty.

I've recently been trying to enable seo friendly urls, not so much because I care about seo but because the urls are easier to read.

I've got the settings as noted here http://piwigo.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=17945 and the .htaccess options also mentioned (actually they were already there, installed when I upgraded to 2.7?)

When I try to post a category or picture link to facebook, it comes up with my 404 page.  When I browse to the same link it works fine.

Any thoughts on what I might try to resolve this?

Piwigo version: 2.7.1
PHP version: 5.3.28
MySQL version:  5.5.40-36.1
Piwigo URL: http://dragonseye.com/photos

Re: broken link when using seo friendly urls & posting to facebook

Note that if you try to link to my gallery right now, it will work as I've got the following settings

//$conf['question_mark_in_urls'] = false;
$conf['php_extension_in_urls'] = false;
$conf['category_url_style'] = 'id-name';

If you want to see what happens with ? disabled, let me know and I'll reset the option for a time

Your server does not seem to be apache, but nginx. So .htaccess is useless...

Sorry, but I don't know nginx... Maybe someone else

How did you decide that it's running nginx?

It's running Apache 2.2.26

Re: broken link when using seo friendly urls & posting to facebook

That's ... odd

I've done a (little) bit of digging and apparently HostGator is using an nginx config that allows htaccess since I'm using them all over the place since moving to HG about a year ago and didn't have to jump through a bunch of hoops to convert over.

http://forums.hostgator.com/nginx-t305821.html

So, I don't think the issue is one of a server version.

It's probably a conflict between my root .htaccess and my photos .htaccess but I'm not sure what to look for

Re: broken link when using seo friendly urls & posting to facebook

Well, I've gone so far as to disable my root .htaccess file and links still don't work and I've disabled all the piwigo plugins and links still-still don't work.

I can see that the server does use htaccess because any changes to it have an immediate effect on all my sites on that server.

Any other ideas?

I've left the gallery set up to not use ? so if you want to see the result try linking to a picture on facebook

Thanks.
