Piwigo iOS version 2.0, beta-test - Image quality

Hello,

a question about the image quality: Which of the size options use the app?

  XXS - tiny
  XS - extra small
  S - small
  M - medium
  L - large
  XL - extra large
  XXL - huge

Right now I can not see the photos in the highest quality on my iphone 6 Plus - the photos looks a not perfect.
Maybe in one of the next steps you can give the user the option to choose the size. To make it perfect, it would be great to set up different image quality options for mobile date usage and Wireless/Wifi access ... ;-)
Thanks a lot for all your effort

For the image detail, M (medium) images are displayed.

I really like the idea to have the user choose which they want! :)

Re: Piwigo iOS version 2.0, beta-test - Image quality

Hi,

Unfortunately I discovered a bug:
If the image is smaller than the "Default Image Size" Setting in the app, than the photo is not shown in the app or just the tiny thumbnail photo.
I use the Default image size setting "Extra Large" (1624 x 1318 Pixel) but around 2% of my (old) photos are smaller.

I guess the solution is, that the full resolution is shown, if the photo size is the smaller than the "Default image size setting"

Can you confirm this issue?

Thanks a lot
Hagen

Re: Piwigo iOS version 2.0, beta-test - Image quality

How it works is the server will give a list of images for each size option (size option being small, medium, large, etc).

If the server didn't generate/have an image of that size, it will give the one next down that does.
Example:
I have an image that only has small, and medium sizes, the server will give me:
- small: small
- medium: medium
- large: medium
If I say I want large to be displayed, medium is the one that actually will be displayed.

Does that answer what you're encountering? This feature is completely dependent on your server settings (see attached image).

Hello Hoser,

Thanks for your fast reply,

I thought that it will work as you describe it. But unfortunately it doesn't. I have the app setting on "Extra large" and the photos which are smaller (than 1624*1318) just not shown in the app. If I reduce the size setting in the app, everything works fine.
There must be a bug.

Thanks again for your support
Hagen

Re: Piwigo iOS version 2.0, beta-test - Image quality

The server will only resize images to those size settings when you first upload them. You can see if it has images of those sizes for a specific image by:

In your piwigo web viewer, go to the image and open it in detail. Look at your url and it should look something like this:
{your server URL}/picture.php?/4955/category/3

The 4955 is the image ID (yours should be different). Then with that ID, open a new tab in your browser and navigate to:
{your server URL}/ws.php?format=json&method=pwg.images.getInfo&image_id={imageID}

Replace "{your server URL}" with your Piwigo address and "{imageID}" with the image ID you found earlier.

It should spit out a bunch of text (JSON). Could you give what it spit out to me?

Re: Piwigo iOS version 2.0, beta-test - Image quality

Hello Hoser,

I just want to come back to this topic. Do you have any idea how to solve the issue? I'm still having the problem, that I get just the thumbnail image shown, if the photo resolution is smaller than the standard setting in the app.
Do you have any idea how to fix it?

Thanks a lot for your support
Hagen
