[resolved] Can I use Piwigo with full size 16mp jpgs for archival purposes?
Hello,
I'm interested in installing piwigo for two purposes:
- make my pictures available online (obviously)
- have full-size jpeg archives of my pictures
However I've read here and there that it is recommended to resize the pictures before uploading them. Could I have some guidance about this? :)

Hello
no it's recommended to generate the resized versions of pictures instead of doing that by the server, in the case of your server is overloaded (low perf + high res pictures usually)

Hi,
I do not agree with flop25. Actually, I "no longer" agree since Piwigo 2.4 and the "multiple size" feature. While this recommendation was OK a few years ago, I don't think it's right nowadays.
Resize your photos before upload if :
* you don't want your high resolution to be on the web
* you have a slow internet connection and don't want to wait for hours
* you have a slow cpu on your hosting
If you're not in at least one of these 3 cases, upload your photos in their original resolution. That's the way I do myself.

that's exactly that I was saying. Let me clarify again: we do not recommend to upload a resized version as the original picture for Piwigo, but to generate the resized versions (like thumbnails) after the upload of the original ones if the server is overloaded (low perf + high res pictures usually)
