Hello/Hi/Greetings,

I'm stuck, really stuck. My site is a complete 503 error. Nothing changed since a month ago when I last added photos. The webhost only says "contact a qualified web developer" but this ain't a custom installation I have here, it's piwigo! I've had this installed for 5+ years (yes, with updates.)

I can get into cpanel, and other sites on this server work.

With a 503 I don't know how to tell what version I'm on, probably 2.10, php should be 7.3.6 and mysql is 5.6.43.

Please let me know any suggestions you have. And while I have no budget for my little family photo gallery, feel free to offer to fix it for me if I paypal you $20 or whatever. (If that's not worth your time, don't insult me, just let someone else tag in.)

503 is a host error (service unavailable)

To start, do you have access to the server access/error logs?

The 74.113 address is me.

The host said something on my site was using too many resources, "maybe just too many files, maybe too many pings," but they said they couldn't give me a hint of what that is. The thing is, my account isn't complicated; it's a coupla' wordpress installations and a piwigo, all just family hobby stuff to keep my skills at the most basic conversational level. There could be a bad plugin somewhere, but since I haven't installed a new plugin in many months I still want to rule out but that it's the server's fault.

Maybe you should start just at what the server log suggests:
AH00529: /home/mrcolj/domains/officespares.com/public_html/.htaccess pcfg_openfile: unable to check htaccess file, ensure it is readable and that '/home/mrcolj/domains/officespares.com/public_html/' is executable

So, do all /home/mrcolj/domains/officespares.com/public_html/ directories have the traversal ("executable") x-bit set for the user the web server is running as and public_html is readable for it and .htaccess as well?

Btw, I'd ditch the clueless and uncooperative web hoster and find a better one.

erAck is spot on. Both in check your permissions (the error below is indicative of them being wrong) and in Find a new Host - yours is clueless...

That one though may be just a bad request to (a? some?) site's root php.ini which rightfully was denied, same as requesting an error_log in the server's root..
