Login failure when trying to upload from Digikam to Piwigo

Dear Piwigo team/ friendly forum members,

Unfortunately, I need to ask for some advice, after unsuccessfully searching a solution for hours.
I am trying to upload photos from Digikam 7.4.0 (installed on Windows 10) to Piwigo (site hosted by dreamhost) using the plugin “Export to Piwigo…”, however, I always get the error “Failed to login into remote piwigo. Incorrect username or password specified.”

The url where the ws.php file is located has the form: “https://my.website.com”.

I tried changing the URL, e.g., by specifying a port (80/443), by choosing different subdirectories  (such as https://my.website.com/galleries, which resulted in the error message that the ws.php could not be found) and testing different user names and passwords (only numbers and letters), but none of this helped.

Any suggestions/ ideas of what I could try?

PS: This might not be relevant, but I saw that ws.php was last modified in October to fix address a bug related to uploading photos: [Github] Piwigo file ws.php .

Re: Login failure when trying to upload from Digikam to Piwigo

Reverting to PhP 7.4 solved the problem.

I recall to have read somewhere (https://www.php.net/supported-versions.php) that Piwigo ought to be compatible with any PhP > 7.3 (i.e also PhP 8), which it obviously isn't. A pity that this is not clearly mentioned somewhere, since it would have saved  me quite many hours.

I am having the same problem, but I cannot revert PHP version on the server, since I am using the hosted version.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Furthermore, do you know where I could find the digiKam Piwigo plugin repository? I would like to open an issue there…

See https://www.digikam.org/support/ "Reporting bugs and wishes".
But it's probably this https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461790
Likely to be fixed by https://github.com/Piwigo/Piwigo/pull/1797 (still not merged).
