Hello,
I'm trying out piwigo for the first time, and have setup the server on a self hosted Kubernetes cluster. I have Piwigo NG 2.2.0 installed on my Android phone. I'm able to login to the app, manually upload photos.
I've configured the app to auto upload my files from my camera, and gave the app permission. I set this up last night and noticed that it has options to upload every XXX (days, hours, etc...). I left it at the default 1 hour and went to bed hoping that in the morning photos would be uploaded, but i have not gotten any photos to automatically upload. As I'm writing this I'm wondering if it's just new photos? I just took a test photo and going to wait to see if it uploads in an hour.
Also I tried manually uploading a video, it appears to upload but then at the end it says "Error". I'm not sure where I can view any sort of logs? I didn't see any in the output on the server (via kubectl logs), nor in the web interface.
Here is the environment information

hello,
I have the same issue and question as Keith.
The auto-upload function does not seem to work and does not upload the photos from a phone folder not already on the piwigo cloud to the piwigo cloud.
Some support would be appreciated on how to make this feature work.
Thanks
Will

Same here, just installed Piwigo app and it's not auto uploading any photos :(
I can manually upload no problem but auto upload doesn't work :(
Offline
I think it's to do with the large amount of photos in the camera folder

No unfortunately it has nothing to do with the amount of photos. I tried with a new phone as well. Android just doesn't work. From an iPhone it does work though !

The frustrating bit is that @remymartin and the team are quite literally ignoring the request.
It's not like we're asking for an immediate fix, we're being patient here - if they had a roadmap and can say 'we are aware of the issue and it will be fixed by ... ' that would be a good starting point.
I also emailed twice the support email and they are not responding at all.
Disappointing to see that we are trying to foster a non GAFAM more diverse economy by supporting Piwigo and sadly the business model does not deliver that well for customers..

I just replied to your customer request on the customer support channel.

Well... as far as I know, Piwigo NG does not have auto-upload. This is a big feature and we don't know when we're going to have time to work on it. I can't be more transparent.

Thanks plg
Piwigo NG 2.2.3 on Android has this feature in the Settings menu (which fellow users in this thread are also seeing)
I have just sent you screen captures so that you can visuzalize what we're talking about.
Grateful for your help to solve this problem soon
Many thanks

Hello all,
I have just tried out the auto upload function after a discussion with plg.
And for me it works ... I wasn't able to activate the setting until I selected the source and the destination. Once I had defined the settings I activated the auto upload. A few moments later I recieved a notification saying my images had uploaded. Checking on my desktop my images have uploaded to my Piwigo.
With android I had to give permission for Piwigo NG to access the source folder.
For information I have android 13.
Did do the same steps to activate this setting ?

hi Hannah
I run Android 8.1
Piwigo NG 2.2.3 is set-up and works overall fine, it is only the (very key) Auto-upload function that does not work.
To answer your questions/checks:
- Source folder is set
- Destination folder is set
- Permissions granted to Piwigo NG to access storage and cameras granted
All the new photos from my camera folder do not upload automatically.
There is nothing whatsoever in the 'Upload Queue' folder
Please could you review with the Android developer and provide a solution.
Happy to connect on skype/screenshare if that can be of assistance.
Thanks
Best wishes

Hello,
Are you using the settings that you find in the top left corner when you open the app ? A colleague has mentionned that it didn't work for him and realised there was two places for the settings.

hi
Yes that's right, top left settings menu is the one I use.
If there is an alternative settings menu that must be used instead , please share screenshots and guidance on how to go about it?..
Thanks
Best wishes

Dear Hannah and PLG
an update regarding this technical glitch and associated fix would be appreciated
It is really a missed opportunity not to be able to maximise the potential of Piwigo and having to run parallel cloud back ups awaiting to upload safely photos to piwigo.
Also running the web version on mac, the upload function is sub-optimum; typically any upload with more than 350 photos tend to freeze at some point meaning I have to slice the uploads by batches of 350 or so which is a complete waste of time and duplication of efforts.
If the auto-upload functions was working properly this would largely take away the batch upload issue on MacOS anyhow.
It would be really great to have visibility of the the Customer experience roadmap and when you are planning to address these issues that have been lingering for some time.
Thanks

Dear Hannah and PLG,
I have the same issue as Will13.
I have a working Piwigo install and can access it via the app and manual uploads work.
I filled in the Source and Destination fields and selected 1 hour with upload notification. I then enabled Auto Upload. I even let the phone sit for over an hour and nothing.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+ with Android version 10.
Thanks for any update.
