Hello,
Although there are quite a few photo management apps, I really like Piwigo. It provides almost everything I need to manage my many photos.
About 10 years ago, I used Piwigo with a web host but ended up removing my photos and stopped my web host plan for various reasons. I just recently began self hosting Piwigo on Ubuntu Server 24.04.
As more and more people are becoming concerned with online privacy, I understand why self hosting is becoming more popular.
I admit that I do miss having my photos accessible online. And as I've become more privacy focused moving to Linux, Graphene OS for mobile devices, and clouds that specialize in E2EE & Zero Knowledge, I do wonder how Piwigo will continue to evolve.
I'm constantly looking for ways that I can self host while also having my photos online (private access only), and while I do read about people doing it, there always seems to be some risk to it.
I'm sure there are Piwigo experts that self host and can access their accounts online securely, and I'm curious with the different ways you're achieving this. I'm also curious with how to securely share albums with family & friends, Hopefully you can share some of these methods?
Perhaps one day Piwigo will offer Passkeys, E2EE & Zero Knowledge services so I can securely access my encrypted photos online.
Thanks.
