Here is our second beta for Piwigo 16 ! It includes several new features, updates and technical changes. Here is an overview of what we have been working on :
A) Advanced filter management for the gallery search
This beta version introduces a new configuration screen for administrators: Search filter manangement.
Administrators can now control widget visibility for guests, users, and other administrators. They can also define which filters are available to each user group and choose which widgets are displayed by default.
B) Comments manager redesign
The comments manager is one of the latest screens to be redesigned, offering improved ergonomics and easier navigation. Let us know if you find this page more user-friendly.
C) Add filters in user activity logs
The user activity page now includes new filters, allowing you to refine results by user, action, or date.
D) Update images using filename from upload form
A new option has been added to the upload form: “Update an existing photo.” Previously, this feature was only available through the Photo Update plugin on the edit photo page. We have now integrated it directly into the core of Piwigo.
Enable the "Update Photo" mode in the upload form. This will detect photos with the same filename and update their image without altering the file’s information.
E)Notify users when their api key is about to expire
We now detect when an API key is nearing expiration and send an email to the user if it will expire within 7 days.
F)Add i18n support to date formatting
We have introduced a new format_date function that uses IntlDateFormatter for proper internationalization whenever possible.

I was able to upgrade to 16.0.0beta2 on my Hostinger website without issue, but I was receiving a warning about PHP 7.33, even though I had system-wide PHP set to 7.4. Turns out my .htaccess file was specifically pointing to PHP 7.33, and once I commented that out, Piwigo recognized PHP 7.4.33.
That said, I have access all the way up to PHP 8.4 in the control panel, and would be happy to update and log any buggy weirdness, as I believe I read somewhere that beta2 had the best support of PHP 8.4 so far, but wasn't recommended as extension or core functionality may not behave as expected.
Cheers!
