Syncronizing with an existing folder of photos

Hello/Hi/Greetings,

I'm setting up Piwigo as a possible alternative to Google Photos.

Piwigo is installed as a docker container in my homelab, and I want to reference the photos in /mnt/photos and not upload them into the container volume.

Is that possible? If so, how, exactly?

Environment:

Piwigo 15.7.0 Check for upgrade
Installed on 10 November 2025, 4 hours in the future
Operating system: Linux
PHP: 8.3.19 (Show info) [2025-11-10 14:24:27]
MySQL: 11.4.8-MariaDB-ubu2404 [2025-11-10 19:24:27]
Graphics Library: ImageMagick ImageMagick 7.1.1-41
Cache size N/A   never calculated Refresh

Piwigo URL: https://photos.danesburypark.com

Thank you

Chris

Re: Syncronizing with an existing folder of photos

Hi, are you using the official container ?

if that's the case you can access the piwigo folder in

Code:

piwigo-data/piwigo

it should be located in the same directory as your compose.yaml.

If you are using a LinuxServer image we cannot help you and you should try to ask them on their github https://github.com/linuxserver/docker-piwigo

Have a nice day.

Sorry, RushLana, is there an official Piwigo container?! Where can I find it? Tried to search everywhere, but found just many topics discussing that "there is no officially supported docker image yet" :(
